Martell L'OR de Jean
OUR FINEST CREATION
The eldest of the great cognac houses of France, Martell has spent all of its nearly 300 years of existence honing its expertise in the art of cognac. At last, we are proud to say we’ve arrived at perfection. L’Or de Jean Martell, the ultimate expression of the House of Martell, is the quintessence of cognac that forms our legacy today.
L’Or de Jean Martell owes its character to a sophisticated combination of the four finest growths — Grand Champagne, Petite Champagne, Fins Bois and Borderies. It is the Borderies, Charantes’ smallest and most exclusive growing region, which yields the refined eau-de-vie that are the hallmark of Martell.
A NEW AGE OF COGNAC
Several hundred eau-de-vie, some of which have aged over a century, are buried like hidden treasure deep in the house’s cellars. It is from here, a place we refer to as the “holy of holies,” where the Cellar Master passionately and unhurriedly prepares the clearest eau-de-vie for double distillation and a lengthy maturation in fine-grain oak barrels. Extraordinarily rare: only about 120 bottles will be made available in the U.S. each year.
“Make our duty a pleasure and our pleasure a duty.”
(Jean Martell, 1721)
THE CRAFTED DECANTER
The finest materials, beauty of the design and handcrafted expertise character- ize the L’Or de Jean Martell decanter. Its contemporary curves are embellished with gilded garlands. These subtle allusions to the elegant French classical style evoke the sophistication of Cristal de Sèvres. A true jewel, its timeless form encapsulates the excellence of which the House of Martell stands.
